Abstract

School leaders must play a role on top of being role models ni encouraging the use of English in schools. With the MBMMBI policy, school leaders need to use English in schools as and when necessary and relevant. They need to be the motivators and movers of raising the standard of English in their schools. School leaders must show initiatives of improving their own personal competency and fluency ni the language first, which wil be the catalyst to strengthening the English language as this leadership by example can excite the teachers as wel as students to follow suit. In addition, today's educational society involves the community where parents, organizations and the private sector are very much involved in helping to develop various aspects of a school. They may need to explain to parents, request help from organizations or ask for sponsorship from the private sector. As such, school leaders need to be equipped with English ni order to be able to communicate with the various parties effectively be ti verbal or written.
